Tomorrow marks our first class weekly meeting. The brainchild of our school administrators, the weekly meeting serves as a scheduled opportunity for teachers and students to debrief. Students can share ideas, express concerns, or delve deeper into something studied in the course of the week.
Our class meeting will also feature a "Happiness Minute," a 60-second slot devoted to the topic of happiness and its moral imperative. (Listeners of Dennis Prager's radio show know exactly what I mean!) The mandate to "be happy" finds expression in numerous Jewish sources as well: the Torah, the halachic literature, and even midrashim that we will study this year.
Tomorrow's class meeting will focus on "ownership" - of our classroom, of our school, and of ourselves.
