The Akeidah and The Shofar
In Chumash, we took a short detour to examine the story of the Akeidah (Avraham's binding of his son Yitzchak on the alter) and its connections to Rosh Hashanah. Not only does halacha (Jewish law) mandate that the shofar horn come from a ram (offered ultimately in place of Yitzchak), but there are thematic connections as well. Your child will be delighted to share his or her knowledge of the Akeidah on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the day on which this episode is read from the Torah.
