Laws of Zimun

Whenever three or more men eat together, they include a prefatory blessing before birkat ha-mazon. Known as a zimun, this practice illustrates the concept of be-rov am hadrat melech - God is glorified by a large group of people.

There are several laws related to the zimun, especially with respect to dividing into small groups of 3. To practice this, students were paired off and given a sack of marbles (with varying numbers of marbles), and used their math skills to divide the entire batch into "acceptable" zimun groups.
