Parsha and Happiness Minute

This week's parsha will re-introduce the dubious character of Lavan, Yaakov's father-in-law. We see how jealous Lavan becomes of Yaakov's success and the steps he takes to deceive him.

Instruction will follow the model of literature circles. Through a guided study, we'll examine the following issues:
  • Lavan's deceitfulness
  • Yaakov's moral fortitude
  • The episode of Yaakov's dream of the ladder and its manifestation in Yaakov's own life

Our happiness minute will focus on the concept of satisfaction - how a person who is content with what he has is truly happy. The parsha will serve as a backdrop for this conversation.
