Our Kosher Explorers unit now turns to the laws related to kosher animals, fish and birds. Students received a list of more than 180 animals and will choose ten about which they know little. They will research these animals to learn about their "kosher" status and will then prepare a one-page collage to highlight their findings.
These collages will be included in each student's portfolio that features evidence of student learning. For a brief description of the benefits of portfolio assessment, see the article in the 'Educational Materials' section of this blog. Portfolios will be featured at the upcoming Mitzvah Fair.
