Birkat Ilanot

Students performed a rare mitzvah today as they recited the annual blessing over blossoming trees. Beginning on Rosh Chodesh Nisan, we have the opportunity to recite this blessing on the nascent budding of trees in their renewed form.

Students learned the 101s of the mitzvah, including how, why and over what we recite the blessing.

Birkat ilanot is designed to inculcate a deep appreciation of the way in which God renews the natural world.

How many day school students can make this bracha while they are at school? Yet another reason to count our blessings...
