I gave students several recipes and asked students to identify the items in each recipe that constitute a kli rishon (comes into direct contact with a heat source) and those that constitute a kli sheini (utensils that receive the hot contents of a kli rishon).
Examples of kli rishon that students found: crock pot, skillet, soup pot
Examples of kli sheini that students found: bowl, plate, container
The activity put a "real life" spin on these concepts.
